Reflections 2
The Little Bear

I saw a little bear, not more than three feet high,
Jumping with such energy, she almost touched the sky.
I saw a little bear, not more than three foot tall,
Jumping up for berries (she couldn't wait for them to fall)
I asked if I could help. She said no, she was having fun.
She told me to come join her, there was too much for one.
Together, side by side, we jumped throughout the day.
The higher we jumped, the harder we laughed,
and the more we wanted to stay.
Then with sunlight fading, she said she had to leave.
She smiled at me brightly and told me not to grieve.
As she ran away laughing, I could hear her say
"Always remember, don't ever forget...
...let your child out to play!"

Partial Truths...

Far off in the distance,
she hears an anguished cry.
She deeply feels his pain
and she begins to sigh.
As she turns to touch,
to heal his aching heart.
Her heart sends her a warning,
tells her not to start.
'I did not deceive you.'
'I did not lie.' cries out his heart.
He didn't tell her everything,
he only told her part.
He kept the rest well hidden,
hoping she'd never know.
Of yet another life he led,
the one he didn't show.
As he cries for things gone past
and things that will not be.
She walks away from darkness
saying, 'yes, you lied to me!'

The time is here, the time is now, this I truly know.
The time to find a special place, a place where I can go.
The time to find a quiet place, one of my very own.
The time to find a hidden place, where I can be alone.

Away from all the strangers, away from all my friends,
I must find a private place, where silence never ends.
I need a place of shadows, away from all demands.
To stop the pushing and pulling, done by unseen hands.

I need a place of silence, where I can rest my mind.
To heal my spirit deep within, or I'll get left behind.
The power that was in me, the one that was so strong,
Has slowly gone to others and now is nearly gone.

I hear the voices call and they ask of me to give.
I hear my spirit cry out loud, "run that we may live."
I hear my heart within me, "we must stand and stay."
My spirit cries out louder, "no, we must hide away."

I cannot give, I cannot help, my spirit is too weak.
I must leave and I must find, this hidden place I seek.
I call out to the voices, "please come back another day."
I feel my life force fading, I turn and walk away.

The time is here, the time is now, this I truly know.
The time to find a special place, a place where I can go.
The time to find a quiet place, one of my very own.
The time to find a hidden place, where I can be alone.

How can you say you miss me?
You hardly knew I was there...
You made me feel invisible,
Made me feel you didn't care...
You talked and I listened
And I heard every word...
I tried to share my thoughts with you.
But those you never heard...
The words I whispered to you
Never reached your ear...
How can you say you miss me?
You didn't know I was here.

I want to hold you closely, I want you to be near.
But please don't say you love me, love seems to disappear.
Hold me deep within your heart, we'll call each other friend.
Arm in arm we'll walk, from now until the end.
When our walk is over, our journey nearly done.
Still there will be two of us, but we will be as one.
We will hold each other closely, to each other we'll be near.
Then, please say you love me, love didn't disappear.

"The Comforter" by L. Bogle

I want to say I love you, to be as we once were.
In another time, another place, two hearts did beat as one.
I want to be with you, to feel love’s warm embrace.
To hear your sigh, see your smile, and gently kiss your lips.
To sleep deep within your arms throughout the gentle night.
To feel your warmth next to me when daylight comes to call.
Oh, to be as we once were, so that we could start anew.
Side by side we would be, sharing all we had to give.
I will wait for your return, I know the time will come.
You will say you love me, we'll be as we once were.

Remember when our love was new?
I thought we'd never part.
To be with you forever,
In your dreams, your life, your heart.
But the ugly winds of rumor
Began to blow one day.
Bringing destructive seeds of doubt
That pulled me far away.
I should have let you hold me
Until the winds were gone.
Instead I listened to them
And now I stand alone.
The life I live without you
Is one that I abhor.
I love you now as I loved you then
NO, I love you even more.

Trapped in a dream, with no place to go.
Sitting on a cloud, watching it snow.
Stardust flakes on the wind they did dance.
Caught as they fell by the river of chance.
Cloud-like angels all floating around.
Laughing and singing, but not making a sound.
Horses flew by me, with wings made of gold.
Birds down below me, were earthbound I’m told.
Animals everywhere, were scurrying about.
Going in one store and then going out.
Brown paper bags were filled to the brim
With goodies and gadgets, all bought on a whim.
I stepped off my cloud as the sun said goodnight.
With the animals I danced, bathed in moonlight.
Colors were spinning about everywhere,
On the land and the sea, in the leaves and the air.
Black velvet skies with stars shining bright,
Greeted each animal on this wonderful night.
The black velvet lightened, softly turning to gray,
Time to awaken, here comes a new day.

SheoWolf (02/28/98)

You tell me that you love me, believe my love is true.
Doubt is in your eyes, it’s in your voice too.
We once hurt each other, albeit, long ago.
The wounds have all healed. The scars, they still show.
The scars that I carried are no longer there.
They have vanished forever, no longer mine to wear.
There were voices long before, and they tore us apart.
Have the voices returned? Do they tear at your heart?
I tell you that I love you. I’ll prove that it’s true.
How long will you doubt me?
I’ve stopped doubting you…

On the edge I did stand,
on the darkest of nights.
I looked at the earth
and marveled at sights.

I wanted those stars,
the ones out of reach.
I felt the wind on my face,
the cool grass at my feet.

A raven flew near,
taking my heart on its wing.
I soared with the eagles
among other things.

I ran with the wolf
and played with the bear.
I stood on the edge
as night's closure drew near.

I stooped on the edge,
wrote my name in the dirt.
So you'd know I was here,
then I fell to the earth.

With the passage of time
I'll return to this rise.
You'll know that it's me,
just look into my eyes.
